You are invited to participate in Y-CROSS (Young Collaborative Reflux & Obesity Surgery Survey), a one-round international survey on current surgical practice for GERD and reflux surgery in the setting of obesity. Led by Young-ESDE, the survey is distributed to members of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) and to surgeons with an interest in this topic.
Despite guideline support for gastric bypass in GERD with obesity, major controversies and practice variation remain, potentially influenced by surgeons’ subspecialty. Your participation will help us map real-world practice worldwide, describe areas of disagreement and variation, and identify priorities for future research to support more standardized care.
Participation and consent
Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw at any time by closing the survey before submitting your responses. By completing and submitting the survey, you consent to the use of your answers for research purposes.
What participation involves
Completing the questionnaire takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The survey will remain open until 1 May 2026 and will be conducted in a single round.
Privacy and data protection
Responses will be treated as confidential and analysed in aggregate only. You will be asked to provide an email address for study administration (for example, to prevent duplicate entries and, if applicable, to share a brief results summary). Any potentially identifying information (including your email address) will be removed after data collection, and analyses will be performed on de-identified data. Results will be reported only in aggregate, and you will not be identifiable in any report or publication
